This week our Global Impact celebration is highlighting the exploding missions movement at Calvary. More and more of our people are taking seriously Christ’s command to take the gospel outside the walls of our church, locally, cross-culturally, nationally and internationally.
Next year Calvary will be sending out more teams than ever on 5 different continents in numerous projects where our people will be serving and sharing. When it comes to missions the call must be to do something.
This weekend we’re challenging every to Pray, Give & Go. Everyone can do something!
There is a reason why some people opt to do nothing. I think on the one hand they look at the overwhelming needs and realize that nothing we do will fix everything. No one step will alleviate poverty, adopt every orphan, or take the gospel to every group of unreached people. Nothing we do, no matter how heroic, can fix all the problems or meet all the needs. Additionally, any single step we take is still difficult, costly, and inconvenient. So since we can’t fix everything and since it is difficult to do anything, we opt to do nothing.
If we could fix everything we would do it no matter how difficult. If doing something was easy then we would do it even if it didn’t fix everything. But the needs are overwhelming and acting seems difficult and so we retreat into a kind of paralysis that justifies doing nothing. But we can’t do that. Don’t do that.
Your step of obedience may not change the world but it can change the world for somebody; for some child who gets a home, for some family who gets a house, for someone who hears the gospel. We must act. Pray. Give. Go. No matter who you are, you can be part of a global mission to advance the kingdom. This weekend we’ll talk about how you can do it.
